If you or a family member are nervous about going to the dentist, we at El Cerro Dental in Danville, California, understand your concerns. That’s why we offer nitrous oxide for our patients to help them feel comfortable during their dental appointments.

What is nitrous oxide?
Commonly referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a safe, light, and effective anesthetic that is inhaled through the nose. It allows the patient to remain pain-free during treatment without being put to sleep and is usually only administered to patients undergoing serious dental treatments such as extractions or root canals.

How will you be sedated?
After coming into our office, you will be seated in a comfortable dental chair. A small gas mask will be worn over your nose. After inhaling deeply from the mask for several minutes, the gas will start to have relaxing effects on the body.

How will it make you feel?
Nitrous oxide will cause the patient to feel light headed tingly. Some have reported feelings of heaviness. You will be relaxed and carefree during your treatment. The effects of the gas wear off quickly after the mask is removed and should dissipate completely before you leave, making it safe to drive home.

We want you to feel comfortable during your appointment. For questions on how nitrous oxide can benefit your treatment, call us at El Cerro Dental today.
